Chevron Chic Boot Cuffs Free Crochet Pattern

There’s something about these leg warmer/boot cuffs that I absolutely love. They SCREAM “fun” and “warm” and the fact that we can snazz up any ol’ pair of boots, heels, or tennis shoes using crochet just might be my favorite thing ever.

During my morning walks my ears and my ankles are the first things to get cold. After walking regularly for the past ~6 years, I’ve narrowed down my absolute lowest temperature I’m willing to walk outdoors in. I’m bundled up in my ear warmer, my hat, a hoodie, my coat, my crocheted gloves (with the finger tips exposed for crocheting), my cold temp leggings, and my leg warmers. I’m a walking Michelin Man some mornings. Ha!

That temperature minimum is further affected by how windy it is that day. If there is less than 5mph wind, I’ll walk in 38 degree F. If the wind is around 10mph, I’ll walk around 42 degrees F. If the wind gets above 20pmh, I have decided not to torture myself and instead I go to the indoor track. Walking and crocheting is great, but when I’m fighting the wind and/or the cold… I’ll just go inside, thanks.

This winter when I’m walking outside my legs will be toasty warm and SUPER stylish with these NEW Chevron Chic Boot Cuffs. I almost named these the Chevron Chic Leg Warmers because they are really warming my ankles and calves, but they are also super cute as boot toppers for short little booties. Multi-functional and adorable. How cute are these?!

For this pattern in the size small (one size) we are using one skein of Brava Worsted for each leg. That equals about (450, 560) yards total for a pair of your own. If you want to use another brand of worsted weight yarn, that’s fine! You could also use Herrschners Worsted or Red Heart Super Saver. You could even use the leftovers from the Bonfire Blanket Cardigan using the Timeless Tones yarn if you have enough! Even though that’s a lighter weight yarn they’ll still turn out great! You might bump down a hook size though, if you do.

I did make the first version of the Chevron Chic Boot Cuffs using scrap worsted weight yarn and changing colors each row. I do love how those turned out as well!

Round 18: Ch-1, turn, sc in each st around. Fasten off using Invisible Join and weave in all ends.

That’s it! If you want yours to be taller (to go over cowboy boots, for example) you can either wear them up higher on your leg before folding them over, or add more length to the chevron part before the final single crochet row, increasing every 3rd row until the length is long as desired.
